August 6th, 2005 — On August 6th, 2005 the Osgoode Firefighters were host to the 2005 Eastern Ontario Firefighter Combat Challenge. More than 150 firefighters from across Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and the US attempted the grueling individual obstacle course. The course included a stair climb, hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advance, and finally a victim rescue. This individual event is considered “The ‘Toughest Two Minutes in Sports’ the link between fitness and skills level and stamina is put to the test.”
InterACTIVE Nutrition sponsored two Ottawa based teams with various products to train prior to the competition, and gave a generous donation to help out in the event. The InterACTIVE banner was prominently displayed throughout the event providing great publicity to the hundreds of people who attended.
In the individual event the InterACTIVE firefighters did very well as many placed in the top forty; posting very good times and for many personal bests. This day long challenge also featured a tag team relay event. This event consisted of 3-5 people sharing the five evolutions of the challenge. The two InterACTIVE team’s both placed in the top 10, and represented InterACTIVE Nutrition very well. Up next for the teams is the National Firefighter Challenge which will take place September 15-18 in Edmonton, Alberta.
